Regal Road Mittens Pattern Now Available

My newest pattern is now available on Ravelry. My first design to be released in 2019.

The name for these mittens was inspired by the continuous paths in the main motif, brought to life with a regal purple colour set against a white background. The design will look good in any combination of two contrasting colours.
Instructions are written for a woman’s small hand with medium and large in brackets. The pattern uses 72 76, 80 stitches around the wrist and the top of the hand. Alternative charts are included for those who want a shorter mitten. Mittens pictured were knit with the instructions for size medium.
This pattern is suitable for an intermediate knitter with some experience working with charts and knitting in the round. Designer tips are provided for those who are new to stranded colourwork.

Go to my Patterns For Sale page to purchase this pattern.

Getting Back to Mittens

After taking a few months to focus on knitting other projects, I'm finally getting back to knitting mittens. Here's a peak at the cuff design for my next pattern which will be released at the end of September.

Using Up Scraps

This month, I decided to dedicate my time to using up scraps of yarn from past projects to create as many mittens as possible to donate to a woman's shelter next winter. I managed to create five different pairs, each of which is lovely in their own unique way.

Vacation Knitting

Sometimes, you just need a simple project that allows you to enjoy knitting without being distracted from watching the world around you. For me, that means knitting socks.

Recently I had the good fortune to take a wonderful 3-week vacation to the Caribbean. It was an amazing opportunity to visit 10 spectacular islands and take in some sun and amazing sites. You can see some pictures from my trip on Instagram.

While on vacation I started these socks which I finished last week. I used a simple 2x2 rib pattern and KnitPicks Stroll Fingering yarn in a colour appropriately named, Malbec Tonal.

Felici Socks

Over the years, I've noticed that www.KnitPicks.com fans LOVE Felici sock yarn. I've always thought it looked okay, but I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. So I bought a couple of skeins of the Harvest colour from their latest release and now I get it. This yarn is beautifully dyed and wonderfully soft. I will buy more Felici in the future.

Playing with Patterns and Colours

This month I took a break from working on my own designs and participated in a mystery knitalong hosted by Kathy from www.justcraftyenough.com.

Her Shetland Peerie Mittens pattern was a great way to play with different colours, while trying out some Shetland style pattern elements.
